Course Overview

In this course, students work to develop fluency and independence as academic writers. They learn to produce well-developed and logically organized texts, including emails, reflections, short answer questions and essays. The course encourages students to initiate, develop, assess, revise and edit their own writing as a means of achieving independence as English language writers. Additionally, the course fosters students' ability to read academic texts effectively. It is designed to equip students with reading techniques and strategies to read, analyze and summarize academic texts with greater speed and comprehension. Attention is also given to raising awareness of individual reading processes and potential L1/L2 transfer, supporting more conscious and efficient engagement with academic discourse.
